Mobile phone graphics have improved hugely over the past few years, and continue to do so at a blistering rate.

Not only static images, now you can have everything from colour animation to live video playback.

The future:

Expect things to get even more exciting in the near future as new technologies such as the Mobile 3D Graphics API (Java Application Programming Interface) which offers access to components of the complete Java programming language as well as making it easier for graphic designers and non-Java people to work with. There is also OpenGL ES, a subset of the popular graphics library specifically tailored to mobile devices.

All this means that with processing power on the up and component sizes shrinking, there will be some amazing phones in the years to come.
